Mabel Week, 93, of White River passed away Monday, January 18, 2010 at the Winner Regional Healthcare Center Long Term Care Facility. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 22, 2010 at 11:00 AM at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in White River. Burial will be in the White River Cemetery. Visitation will begin one hour prior to services at the church.
Mabel Rosebud Gunner Week was born December 17, 1916 to Gust and Signe Gunner. She attended all eight years of grade school at a country school called White Mountain School. She graduated from White River High School in 1936. She was united in marriage to Reinhart Week on December 28, 1936 and to this union five children were born. Reinhart G. Jr., Arnold R., Janice M., Carol M. and Rodney J.
Mabel and Reinhart lived on different farms and ranches in Mellette County. They retired from farming and ranching in 1988 and moved into White River until she moved into the White River Nursing Home for a few months and then to the Winner Regional Long Term Care Center at Winner which was her home for the past three years.
Mabel was a member of the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, St. Paul’s Ladies Aide and the River View Extension Club and was active with the Senior Citizens in White River. She enjoyed company being family or friends.
She leaves to mourn her: two daughters; Janice of Norris and Carol (William) Tuttle of Belle Fourche, SD, and one son Rodney (Rhonda), Kearney, NE, a sister Eunice Krogman, 14 grandchildren and 31 grand children, one great great grandchild and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Gust and Signe, husband Reinhart, two sons; Reinhart, Jr. and Arnold, a brother Carl, two sisters Vera Mae and Christine, a grandson Richard Week, two sister in laws, six brother in laws and a son-in-law Bernard Ring and a great grand daughter Shauna Pravecek.
